Q. Are you Anti-Semitic?
A. The short
and simple answer is no. Anti-Semitism has a very precise
definition. It refers to remarks or acts targeting the
ethnic group termed Semites, which comprises both Jews
and Arabs. Israeli and Zionist media and political forces
have distorted this definition in several ways. Above
all they have manipulated the concept of Semitic ethnicity
so as to apply to Jews alone, thereby enabling them
to level the allegation of anti-Semitism against the
Arabs in spite of the fact that they constitute the
majority of the Semitic peoples. In addition, they have
stretched the definition of anti-Semitism to include
any criticism of Israel and Israeli policy. Thus, anyone
who speaks out against the aggression and inhumane practices
inflicted against the Palestinian people by Israeli
occupation forces risks being branded "anti-Semitic".
The label "anti-Semitic"
has acquired enormous deterrent power. Israeli and Zionist
forces have rallied their mammoth network of relations
and vested interests to disseminate such a climate of
terror as to preclude any discussion of Israeli policy
or actions that might somehow be construed as adverse.
Even in academic circles, for scholars or researchers
to so much as broach certain subjects is enough to set
off the charge of anti- Semitism. As a consequence entire
fields of scholastic inquiry have entered the constantly
expanding list of Israel's taboos.
This website is
about exposing the realities and truth of the current
situation for Palestinians. It is a forum for you to
access information that you will not get in mainstream
media, and for you to educate yourself so as to make
informed decisions about the Palestinian/Israeli conflict
without being concerned about being labelled as anti-Semitic.
We are anti-Zionism and not
anti-Semitic.
Zionism is a political
ideology and movement, arising as a response to European
anti-Semitism that argues that Jews must have a separate
homeland and that this homeland should be in the area
historically known as Palestine. Though its advocates
often intermingle religious messages with this political
message, the Zionist ideology has nothing directly to
do with the religion of Judaism. From its very beginnings
in the late 1800's, many Jews (both religious and secular)
have disagreed with this ideology. These anti-Zionist
Jews have argued, variously, that Zionism is the wrong
response to European anti-Semitism and also that Zionism
– while perhaps an okay idea in a vacuum – cannot exist
in reality without imposing similar forms of injustice
and oppression on the indigenous Palestinian people
as have been suffered by Jews in Europe (an idea even
acknowledged by the founder of modern Zionism, Theodor
Herzl, when he wrote about the “need” to expropriate
the land of indigenous Palestinians and deny Palestinians
jobs).
Q. Whose side are you on?
A. Easy,
the side of truth and justice. The ideology of Zionism,
which exemplifies Israeli government policies, is the
cause of a history of ongoing injustices and deprivation
of Palestinian rights. The collective punishment of
Palestinians with no regard for individual responsibility
has resulted in 3.4 million Palestinians living in a
state of virtual confinement in the West bank and Gaza
Strip. Such punishments include mass arrests, house
demolitions, movement restrictions (i.e. curfews), the
Annexation Wall, property destruction, food and water
restrictions are serious breaches of International Law.
Daily life is a series of ordinances and an ordeal of
checkpoints, which interrupt all aspects of daily life,
such as getting to work, attending school, obtaining
medical assistance, or seeing family and friends. These
measures have been going on for decades and the effect
on the population (psychologically and socially) and
the economy has been devastating. Israeli government
officials and military personnel need to made accountable
for its inhumane actions. Australians have an important
role in lobbying its government to put an end to these
injustices to free both the Palestinians and the Israelis
form the vicious cycle of violence. The truth needs
to be exposed of the realities of the Palestinian/Israeli
conflict.
